Inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, We Talk of Dreams weaves together contemporary and Shakespearean text into a playful, surreal, and intimate story about queer love and relationship. 

On the night of the Capulet party, Mercutio and Benvolio follow strange fragments of poetry into the heart of a labyrinthine garden. While Romeo and Juliet find each other off in the background, Mercutio and Benvolio attempt to navigate queerness, language, connection, and what it means to fall in love in an increasingly confusing world.  

In an effort to supply the community with distinct and thoughtful Shakespeare, we have a fully new global premier production of We Talk of Dreams written & directed by Asa O’Connor Jaeckel, at Saxe Point Park. 

A queer, surreal journey through the world of Romeo & Juliet, this 70 minute performance will take place August 30th, 31st, September 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th at 6:30PM with one matinee at 2PM on September 5th. This show is ticketed with ranging ticket prices from $15-$30, with a variety of free community access tickets available to those who ask.

Anywhere we perform, we invite audience members of diverse ages, cultures, and economic backgrounds to be inspired every summer by the immortal words of Shakespeare (and new playwright's!) under the stars.

What is the washroom situation at the site?

Saxe Point Park has gender neutral and wheelchair accessible washrooms onsite, about a 3 minute walk away from the performance.

Are the venues accessible via public transit?

Saxe Point Park: Bus route 25 stops nearby. Bus routes 15, and 26 also stop at Esquimalt Rd about a 16 minute walk from the site. No seating is provided, it's festival style on open grassy ground, first come first served.
